That conversation decides the project. Fourteen stages separate an idea from a finished bag; four of them are the ones you will remember.
Not every stage needs you: some happen at the bench between sessions, and you see the result rather than the process. Which ones you attend, and how many times you come to Milan, we decide together at the start.

The idea
What you want, and why every bag you have owned has fallen short of it. The questions do the work here.

Sketch and pattern
A sketch, corrected until the proportions are right. Then a paper pattern — the flat map of a three-dimensional object, where mistakes are still inexpensive.

The prototype
Plain material, no leather, no hardware. It exists only to test volume. You carry it across the room and say what is wrong.

Leather and finish
Hides chosen against the light and in your hands. Then hardware, lining, stitching and the leather inside your palette.
what you take away
One bag, and everything it was made from. A finished bag that exists in a single copy, made to your measurements and your way of carrying.
The original drawing and the paper pattern, which stay yours — a second piece can be made from them years later. The prototype, if you want it.
A record of the materials used: the hide, the hardware, the thread, so the bag can be repaired properly anywhere.

No. You bring the idea; the drawing is my job and the designer’s.
Can I choose the leather myself?
Yes, and I recommend it. Leather is chosen in person, against the light and in your hands.
